March 12 – Theatre Games
Our first class will focus on building ensemble as a group and engaging our imaginations and senses through many different theatre games and skills.
March 19 – Pirates!
It’s a swashbuckling tale! Practice your “Arghhs” and your “Ahoy Mateys” through song, dance and stories all about Pirates.
March 26 – Shakespeare!
Fairies, magic and fun fill the class through the beau6ful language and stories of  Shakespeare. Students will learn a bit about the Bard, his many stories, and characters, and even practice some of his poetic language.
April 2 – Costumes! Lights! Stage!
What are costumes? Why do we have lights? What’s a Set Designer? During this class, we will explore a stage and what is on it. Exploring the visual artistry of theatre, each student will also get a chance to design and draw their own costume – and share it.
April 9 – Song & Dance!
Students will learn a classic musical number from a Broadway show.

LOCATION: The BARN at Indian Ledge, Indian Ledge Park. The Barn is located above the Soccer field. 

INSTRUCTOR: Scott Bartelson is currently the Management Associate at Hartford Stage. He led the Day Dreamers 3-5 year-old summer theatre program for their Summer Studio for many years. He holds a B.S. in Educational Theatre from NYU Steinhardt. Prior to Hartford Stage, Scott was the Producing Associate & Teaching Artist at Shakespeare on the Sound in Norwalk and worked for several years in the General Management office at Town Square Productions in New York City. He has taught at a variety of organiza6ons including Second Stage, MCC Youth Theatre Company, and TADA! Youth Theatre.
