The first week will focus on Theatre Games, including building an ensemble as a group and engaging our imaginations through interactive play. The remaining classes will be theme-based while continuing to build confidence and skills using our actor tools: the body, the voice, and the imagination. Themes will include Zombies, Aladdin & the Genie, Under the Sea, and Broadway. Grades 3-5 will also use their visual artistry to design a costume or set for one of the themes. Each week, students will also learn one short song and/or dance that can be seen in the last ten minutes of class.
INSTRUCTOR: Scott Bartelson is a local teaching artist and has led multiple Theatre Workshops with the Trumbull Youth Association since 2014. He holds a B.S. in Educational Theatre from NYU Steinhardt and has served as a Teaching Artist for several organizations including Shakespeare on the Sound, Second Stage, MCC Youth Theatre Company, TADA! Youth Theatre, and Hartford Stage. He currently works as the Senior Associate Director of Development at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale/Yale Repertory Theatre.
